Phil Mickelson Speaks About the Rory McIlroy-Tiger Woods 'Feud'

Mickelson tried to quash any drama with the golfer from Northern Ireland, noting that McIlroy is one of the tour's classiest players and made his comment to challenge Woods because any competitive golfer seeks to beat the top-ranked player.

Mickelson was surprised to hear that McIlroy's comments commanded as much publicity as they did.

"That's the type of charisma that Rory McIlroy has," Mickelson said. "He's just like any other top player that wants to take on the best. That's not any type of controversy or saga."

Mickelson was also surprised to hear that the comments seemingly irked Woods.
