Joe Torre, Don Mattingly Attending George Steinbrenner Ceremony Monday

Filed under: Dodgers, YankeesJoe Torre and Don Mattingly have been in the headlines this week as one succeeds the other as the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the New York Daily News is reporting that they're both going to be in New York on Monday night for the ceremony dedicating late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner's monument at Yankees Stadium.

Of course, the ceremony will be attended by a large number of Yankee greats, but neither Torre nor Mattingly have attended any Yankee-related functions since Torre was nudged out of the manager's seat and Mattingly wasn't chosen to replace him following the 2008 season.

Then again, they are both prominently associated with another team now and it's hard to be the manager or coach of the Dodgers are still identify yourself as a Yankee. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
