ATLANTA -- The quarterback focus around the ACC this summer was on Clemson's Kyle Parker. Would he forsake college football for baseball and sign with the Colorado Rockies as a first-round draft choice? It turns out the attention may have been on the wrong person.
Russell Wilson, also a two-sport standout and Rockies draftee, is shining as bright as any quarterback in the ACC right now and North Carolina State is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2002.
Wilson, drafted in the fourth round, spent the summer playing second base for Tri-City in the Class A Northwest League. But neither that nor missing spring practice has kept him from playing at the moment like football is his one and only focus.
The redshirt junior threw for three touchdowns and had a career-best 368 yards as the Wolfpack defeated defending champion Georgia Tech 45-28 on Saturday to win an ACC opener for the first time under coach Tom O'Brien.
