Filed under: Mavericks, NBA RumorsPower forward Tim Thomas will not be rejoining the Dallas Mavericks for the 2010-11 season, deciding to spend time with his ailing wife instead, the Dallas Morning News reported. Thomas and his family have kept her condition private.
Thomas did not play for Dallas after January so he could be with his wife while she battled her illness. On Tuesday, Thomas informed the Mavericks through his agent Bob Myers that he will not be returning to the team.
"The Mavericks have been very understanding on their end throughout the process," Myers said. "Tim just feels that this is the best decision for himself and his family at this time."
Thomas said in March that if his wife's ailment improved, he wanted to return to the NBA and play for Dallas. Thomas signed a one-year contract with the Mavericks this July, but has decided to spend time with his wife and family instead of returning to the NBA.
With Thomas not returning and a possible retirement imminent, the Mavericks are left without a backup power forward to Dirk Nowitzki and 13 guaranteed contracts. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
